It would have taken place earlier in the year but for the fact that the lessons started later than usual and some family members were abroad for almost the whole of the summer. So we settled on the first Sunday after the start of the new school term.
This meant that today the church had to be got ready....
....with flowers, of course....
....and clean altar cloths.
I had to croon my way through the Gospel Acclamation with one of the organists, Anne.
But then, in the absence of our highly professional musicians, I had to fill in myself as organist, so that St Joseph's own 'Little Sparrow' could practice singing the psalm:
With all this worthy effort, what could possibly go wrong tomorrow?
